Dr. TS Kler is a renowned Cardiac Surgeon in India. He currently heads the Department of Cardiology at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurgaon. The doctor has received many prestigious awards, such as the Padma Bhushan and the Lifetime Achievement Award 2006, for his outstanding contribution to the field of cardiology.
He completed his MBBS from the Medical College of Patiala. Later, he did an M.D. in medicine and a D.M. in cardiology from PGI, Chandigarh. He founded Fortis Escort Heart Institute and worked there for 28 years, including as the Executive Director for the last 12 years.
The doctor has performed more than 25,000 renal, carotid and peripheral angioplasties. He founded the electrophysiology department at the Escort Heart Institute for the first time in India and began the radiofrequency ablation project there in 1993.
Dr. TS Kler was the first doctor from India to install an implantable cardioverter defibrillator in 1995. He has conducted around 2000 cardiac diagnostic angiographies and almost 300 angioplasties.
He was awarded the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian honour given by the President of India for his excellent contribution in the field of medicine in 2005.
He was also awarded with the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006 for his remarkable contribution in the field of Clinical & Preventive Cardiology in the world.
